Embracing the theme Parent Engagement: The Power of Empowerment, CANN 2019 will feature an impressive line-up of speakers, experts and leaders who will address today's emerging topics and trends that are forging the way to improved neonatal nursing care and newborn health. 

This two-day conference will include a combination of pre-conference workshops (Sunday, April 7), general and concurrent sessions, poster presentations, as well as an exhibit component, and a social program allowing plenty of time to network.

This Compassionate Care Workshop is for health care providers who provide care to families who may experience a pregnancy loss or the death of their baby. The day will cover grief, memory making, cultural safety, what to say/what not to say, pregnancy after loss, and family-centred care.

Pre-Conference Workshops
Sunday, April 7, 08:00-16:30

This workshop will be a case-based learning opportunity incorporating the new Canadian Neonatal Nursing Competencies to help support nurses preparing to write the Canadian Neonatal Specialty Certification Exam. Upon completion of the workshop, the learner will be able to identify gaps in knowledge and areas for further study.

This workshop will focus on supporting parents’ mental health after their stay in the NICU by providing opportunities to share experiences, and to gain practical strategies on achieving health and wellness. There will also be a wide range of other important topics including: school readiness, parent engagement, and supporting parents who have experienced a perinatal loss.

A limited number of hotel rooms have been secured for our group at a special rate of $159 for a Traditional Room


Our group rate will only be available until 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on Friday, March 15, 2019, or until our group block is sold out, whichever comes first. After that point, any new reservation will be subject to availability at the daily rate applicable at the time of reservation. 


The rate is applicable per room, per night (single, double, triple or quad occupancy), and is subject to applicable taxes and fees, currently 13% Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) plus 4% Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT). MAT is also subject to HST. Taxes and fees may change without notice. 


Individuals are responsible for their own room, tax and incidental charges, and all charges must be paid upon check-out. All rooms include complimentary standard in-room Wi-Fi. 


A deposit equal to one night's stay is required at the time of reservation. Full refund of this deposit will be given to cancellations received until 72 hours prior to arrival. For cancellations received within 72 hours of arrival, this deposit is non-refundable. An early departure fee of $50 will apply if you check out prior to your confirmed departure date. 


Check-in begins at 3:00 p.m.; check-out time is 12:00 p.m.

CANN does not endorse or recommend booking hotel reservations through any source other than the hotel itself, and no other housing company, travel agent or third party agency is authorized to place hotel reservations on behalf of CANN.

TRAVEL:  The Sheraton Toronto Airport Hotel is located approximately 3.3 kilometres (about 6 minutes) from Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ). The hotel offers a complimentary 24-hour shuttle from Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) – Shuttle Phone: 416-675-6100. Taxi fare from Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) to the Sheraton Toronto Airport Hotel is $25 flat rate; the fare by Uber is approximately $15.


PARKING:  The Sheraton Toronto Airport Hotel offers a special discounted parking rate to attendees of the CANN 2019 National Conference: $10 per car per day (based on availability).

Cancellation Policy

Refunds of registration fees, less a $25 administration fee, will be issued for cancellations received by Friday, March 15, 2019. No refunds will be issued after this date. If you are unable to attend, you may substitute someone in your place. All cancellations and substitution requests must be received in writing. Refunds will be processed after the conference.
